With reference to War Office letter Hong Kong jull
(0,1,1,2,) dated 9th July 1920, I have the honour to report that
many details of the proposed re-location of barracks relai. to

Department to decide the fundamental principle on certain
assumptions, viz:-

(i) That the Estaplishment will be approximately tha
same as before the war, plus one mountain Battery
H.1.3.R,1,A. I show in appendix A the assumed garrison
and have empodied therein certain minor modificatious
in numbers uelieved to be approved and others which i
think likely to be approved.

(11) That the location of the greater part of the
garrison on the north side of the haroour and of
the Indian troops at the foot of the Kowlood range
will not be in conflict with the scheme of defence.
Generally, the plan is to put all the European
R... in barracks near their batteries: all the British
Infantry at Gun Club dill and king's Earl (which are contiguous):
and all Indian troops at Kowloon reak reserve land, or somewhere else on the foothills of the owloon Range. Important points
which have not been settled are whether the 2.0.0's. residence, Headquarter Offices, and the R.,3,0. and K.-.0.D. store buildings
